If you never had luck with chopsticks, don’t eat sushi with a fork. It’s acceptable to eat sushi with your hands. If you’re a chopsticks pro, make sure you don’t rub your chopsticks together. It’s considered rude in Japanese culture.
Also, don’t drench your sushi in soy sauce or cover it in ginger. Ginger is actually supposed to be eaten between different types of sushi to cleanse your palate. It’s also recommended that you start by eating fish with a lighter flavor and move onto more flavorful fish.
Something else to remember: Sushi is healthy for you as long as you stick to seafood and rice. When you order a deep-fried sushi roll filled with mayonnaise, the calories can add up.
